EN (Exhibition Description)
In CAT CHAT, “language” is not limited to text or speech. This exhibition explores the relationship between language and visual language (images, graphics, and layout).
We see text before we read it. The size, spacing, position, and color of letters already function as an image. Likewise, images can generate meaning even without clear explanation.
CAT CHAT focuses on this mixed condition. Text appears as image, and images operate like language.
The exhibition reveals this relationship through the structure of chat. Short sentences, broken flow, delayed responses—it maintains the incomplete state of real conversation.
Rather than fully understanding content, the viewer is placed within a scene where text and image operate simultaneously. Meaning is not delivered at once. It overlaps, slips, and repeats, forming gradually over time.
CAT CHAT is not an exhibition that tells something, but one that shows how meaning is formed.

This poster follows the structure of the exhibition. Information is scattered rather than organized, and text is placed without a fixed order.
We see a poster before we read it. The size, color, and position of letters already create a visual impression. Images and hand-drawn marks do not simply support information, but operate on the same level as text.
Reading and seeing happen at the same time, and legibility is intentionally delayed. This poster does not aim to clearly deliver information, but to create visual flow and collision.
Rather than a guide, it is experienced as a visual conversation.

CAT CHAT에서 말하는 ‘언어’는 말이나 글만을 의미하지 않는다. 이 전시는 언어와 시각 언어(이미지, 그래픽, 배치)의 관계를 다룬다.
우리는 텍스트를 읽기 전에 먼저 본다. 글자의 크기, 간격, 위치, 색은 이미 하나의 이미지로 작동한다. 반대로 이미지 역시 설명되지 않아도 하나의 신호처럼 의미를 만든다.
CAT CHAT은 이 두 가지가 섞여 있는 상태에 주목한다. 텍스트는 이미지처럼 보이고, 이미지는 언어처럼 작동한다.
전시는 ‘채팅’의 구조를 통해 이 관계를 드러낸다. 짧은 문장들, 끊긴 흐름, 지연된 응답—완전히 정리되지 않은 대화의 상태를 유지한다.
관람자는 내용을 정확히 이해하기보다 텍스트와 이미지가 동시에 작동하는 장면 속에 놓인다. 의미는 쉽게 전달되지 않는다. 겹치고, 어긋나고, 반복되면서 천천히 형성된다.
